About
Lolo Zazar

Lolo Zazar is a self-taught and eclectic artist whose work spans photography, film, sculpture and traditional Vietnamese lacquer.

He began his career as a photographer before exploring animation, short films and music videos as a writer, director and actor. For over 20 years, he has been sculpting metal — mainly steel — and has exhibited in Paris, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Hanoi.

While living in Vietnam, he discovered traditional lacquer and returned to photography. Fascinated by the walls of Hanoi, which he sees as accidental paintings, he has photographed them for two decades, exhibiting the series in Vietnam and France.

Today, he continues working with metal, creating unique light sculptures mixing steel, plexiglass and wood. Between 2017 and 2019, he also produced over a hundred small-format portraits made from wire and paint — part of an ongoing series titled The Infinite Family.

His work is shaped by movement, materials, memory — and the desire to share what he creates along the way.
